Umstead 100 Text Message Notifications Instructions

Our text notification system will send you a text message each time a watched runner passes one of our three checkpoints.

To sign up and add a runner to your watch list, do this:

1. Enter at least one piece of information about your runner in the Notification Sign up.
2. Select your runner from the list.
   Lots of people are forgetting this part!
3. Enter your phone number.
4. Click Save.
5. You'll receive a confirmation text from (919) XXX-5799

You can sign up for multiple runners.

To stop receving ALL texts from the service, reply with the word "stop".

To resume receiving text messages for ALL the runners that you've watched, reply with the word "start".

We don't have a way for you to remove runners from your watch list. If you've added a bunch of runners and need us to clear them ALL out, send us email.

We'll shut the service down as soon as the race is over, so you don't have to worry about removing your phone number.

Using the last few years as a guide, we'll send around 20,000 texts over the weekend (over 600 per hour) to over 1,000 phone numbers, in 180 area codes, in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
