UMSTEAD 100 MILE RUN REGISTRATION POLICY

The Umstead 100 Mile Endurance Run admits runners into the field predominately on a first to register basis. The Race does not distinguish between 100 mile and 50 mile entries for purposes of registration limits. The Race has a limit of 250 runners imposed both by our Park permit and our desire to give the highest quality service to our runners. Runners seeking entry into the 100 mile race must meet the entry criteria listed both on the Entry Form and in the Race Information Packet.

The following guidelines will be used in determining entry into the Race:

1. The Race will accept 280 total entries into the Race including reserved slots listed in items 2, 3, and 4 below. The extra 30 slots, above the 250 limit, will be to account for no shows on race day. This is in agreement with our Park permit.

2. The Race will reserve 10 slots for competitive entries and previous male and female winners of the Race until March 1. Competitive is the potential for sub 17 hours for males and sub 18 hours for females on the Umstead course.

3. The Race will reserve 10 slots for members of the “500 Mile Club” until January 1.

4. The Race will reserve 10 slots for friends and volunteers of the Race until January 1.

5. Slots not utilized for 2, 3 and 4 above will be allotted to the Official Race Waiting List.

6. The Race will announce the opening of registration via both the Official Race Website www.Umstead100.org and the official group email list also located on the website.

7. The opening of registration will normally be shortly after Labor Day each year.

8. The race will accept online registration up to 200 entries on a first to register basis. All registration after the 200 online entries will be via hard copy postal mail or other surface mailing methods on a first to arrive basis. This will allow some snail mailers to gain entry into the Race. Hard copy entries postmarked prior to the opening of registration will be held for 7 days past the official opening of registration, prior to processing. All waiting list entries will be taken from hard copy surface mail.

9. The Race will maintain an Official Waiting List. Any registered runner who drops from the Race will be replaced, in order, from the waiting list. Race reserved slots not utilized by Race Management will be filled from the waiting list.

10. The Race will return the dropping runner’s entry fee, less the stated administration fee, for entry cancellations up until February 1.

It is strongly suggested that if you are sure you desire entry into the Race that you place your name on our Official Group Email List located on our website. This group email will receive a reminder notice of the opening of registration as we go live with online registration.
